Panamericana 2026 - 20XX
We chose Panamericana as our first adventure for various reasons. Last but not least as the paperwork on that route seems to be relatively easy and with a few exceptions the countries allow a lot of off-road fun under reasonable conditions. We had experienced Chile / Argentina in 2020 and loved it there so we are eager to return with more autonomy.
A few facts upfront: Northernmost point will be Prudhoe Bay Alaska (70°12' 20') but Tuktoyaktuk (69° 27' 03") will be the only place we reach the artic ocean. It is to be seen if we take a dive there. The southernmost point will be close to Ushuaia (54° 48' 7"). All in all, the shortest distance would be 40.000 km but we assume to be traveling well above 100.000 km in total as there is too much to see on either side of the shortest connection.

While most of the Panamericana will be paved, we will weir off every now and then to seek the challenge and the solitude only found away from the main road.
Political changes and unrest might force us to deviate but currently we wanto cover most of the countries, exception Venezuale, The Guayanas and Surinam.
The Darien gap remains, next to the infamous crossing of the Titicaca lake the spot where the truck will have to go on a ship again. Organizing that will become a separate chapter in this blog.
At the time of setting up the webpage the UNICAT is just leaving Antwerp harbor, after the next port in Liverpool it will be a straight shot to Halifax, Canada where I can take the vehicle out of the harbor hopefully on the 16th of April 2026.
